140 000 square meters of solar cells will be installed in the area, supplying power to cover the power demand of 1600 families of four. This project will help Hungary achieve its undertaking to generate 15 percent of its energy consumption from solar power by 2020 and to reduce its carbon dioxide emission. This EU-funded MVM project will be implemented on a municipality-owned 20-hectare plot near the Pécs Thermal Power Station. This project further enhances the ‘green image’ of Pécs, its the commitment to the environment and to the use of renewable energy.
