In the mid-2000’s ELMÜ embarked on the primary and secondary reconstruction of the outdated medium-voltage switchgears. As the first stage of this long-term strategy, in the summer of 2011 a call for tenders was issued for the reconstruction of the Csarnoktér 120/10 kV medium-voltage substation.

Protecta was awarded the assignment to deliver the secondary system of the substation, with more than 50 bays and a double busbar with bus switches. This project was the first ELMÜ substation with an IEC 61850 communication system; Protecta completed this assignment with flying colours.
This successful project was followed by the secondary reconstruction of the 120 kV system, where Protecta delivered the complete protection system for three 120/10 kV transformers, the related automatic devices and the busbar protection system. Protecta was also responsible for engineering as a whole.
This stage of the project was completed at the end of 2014, the total project value exceeding HUF 100 million.
