Moving forward in Point-on-Wave switching control

We have made further steps in the field of Point-on-Wave switching control for shunt reactors, capacitor banks, power lines and transformers.

We have finished developments which make it possible to handle the controlled switching of the different equipment in a unified way in one function. Moreover, they provide new possibilities in the hands of the users, i.e. supporting the automatic estimation of the operation times of the circuit breaker, the most critical parameters for effective switching control. On the one part, based on a statistic built up by the switching history, second, on measurements of auxiliary factors like temperature, DC voltage and pressure of the circuit breaker.

Furthermore, we have enriched our testing experience through tests in substations and with real time digital simulator. Special thanks to our expert collaborators from E.On and MAVIR for their contribution in examination of the control function on a capacitor bank, shunt reactor as well as on a 120kV and a 400kV transmission line in substations Szigetvár 120/20kV and Győr 400/132/18kV. These tests proved that the Point-on-Wave switching control can be effectively applied on equipment switched by single-pole circuit breakers.
